The past week saw the appointments of leaders in key positions across Canada’s and Ontario’s research and innovation ecosystem, including Canada’s Chief Science Advisor, CEO of MaRS Discovery District, and CEO of the newly created Vector Institute for Artificial Intelligence. Dr. Bettina Hamelin, President and CEO of Ontario Genomics, would like to congratulate Dr. Mona Nemer, Mr. Yung Wu, and Dr. Garth Gibson on their new roles.
“These three leaders bring an impressive breadth and depth of experience including world class research, management and successful entrepreneurship needed for Canada and Ontario to succeed in an innovation-based economy,” said Dr. Hamelin.
As an organization focused on catalyzing and supporting genomics research and innovation, as well as early stage commercialization across all life sciences sectors—including human health, bioproducts and clean technologies, and agriculture and agri-food—there is considerable opportunity for collaboration.
“Genomics touches on so many areas of life including how we treat disease, fight climate change, and grow the food we eat. I look forward to partnering with these leaders to solve the big common challenges we are all facing,” said Dr. Hamelin.
