Dr. Elaine Corbett is the Senior Director of Business Development & Philanthropy at Ontario Genomics. Elaine brings more than two decades of progressive leadership experience spanning industry, non-profit, and academia. In her current role, she leads efforts to expand partnerships, unlock new revenue streams, and drive sponsorship, investment, and philanthropic opportunities, mobilizing government, industry, investor, and philanthropic partners to support mission-driven initiatives that help innovators bring game-changing solutions to market.

Elaine has led initiatives across food and agriculture, cleantech, health, and biomanufacturing, securing millions in funding, building strategic partnerships, and advancing programs that drive innovation, commercialization, and economic growth.

Prior to joining Ontario Genomics in 2014, Elaine held leadership and scientific roles at two Canadian medical device and biotechnology companies. At SQI Diagnostics, she managed multidisciplinary programs advancing microarray diagnostics, leading to successful regulatory submissions and product launches. At Axela, she led client engagement, collaborated with cross-functional teams on product and platform development, and supported sales and commercialization efforts across diagnostic technologies.

Elaine received her Honours BSc in Biomedical Science from University College Cork, Ireland. She earned her PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Alberta, where her research focused on the endoplasmic reticulum and the chaperones involved in protein folding. She subsequently completed a postdoctoral fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, where her work focused on cell-mediated immunity and phagocytosis. Elaine received numerous academic awards and scholarships, including support from CIHR, AHFMR, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Wellcome Trust, and others, and was awarded a Gold Medal for academic achievement during her undergraduate studies.
