About the Project:

This internship supports a project focused on strengthening the precision health ecosystem in Ontario. The intern will support Ontario Genomics with stakeholder mapping, data organization, and insight generation to enable more effective program delivery and partnerships.

The main goal is to develop a structured, centralized dataset of key stakeholders, data sources, and data/AI capabilities relevant to precision health — including companies, academic researchers, healthcare institutions, investors, and patient advocacy groups. This work supports Ontario Genomics’ priorities to accelerate the scaling of health technologies, mobilize data sharing and AI adoption, and integrate innovation and data to improve health outcomes.

The project will result in a practical internal tool (a searchable database) and a set of analytical outputs. The intern will design a standardized classification framework to organize stakeholders by sector, capability (e.g., data, AI, clinical), and alignment with Ontario Genomics programs and priorities, and will help generate insights on ecosystem gaps, partnership opportunities, and areas to better support innovation and underserved populations. These insights will contribute to broader outputs such as environment-shaping reports and a precision health white paper.

About the Role:

Ontario Genomics is seeking an intern to lead this stakeholder-mapping and data organization project within our Precision Health mission, for a term of 6 months to 1 year, with a target start in late September 2026. The intern will work exclusively on Precision Health initiatives and will report to the Manager, Stakeholder Relations and Governance. This role is well suited to someone who is highly analytical, organized, and comfortable working with data, while also being adaptable enough to support day-to-day stakeholder relations activities as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Precision Health Ecosystem Project

• Design a standardized classification framework to organize precision health stakeholders by sector, capability (e.g., data, AI, clinical), and alignment with Ontario Genomics programs and priorities.
• Build and maintain a structured, centralized dataset/searchable database of stakeholders, data sources, and data/AI capabilities relevant to precision health.
• Research and profile companies, academic researchers, healthcare institutions, investors, and patient advocacy groups active in Ontario’s precision health ecosystem.
• Generate insights on ecosystem gaps, partnership opportunities, and areas where Ontario Genomics can better support innovation, including underserved populations.
• Contribute analysis and content to environment-shaping reports and a precision health white paper.
• Support the analysis and mapping of genomic data

Stakeholder Relations Support

• Coordinate event logistics related to the Precision Health mission, including scheduling, materials, and follow-up.
• Set up and coordinate meetings on behalf of the Manager, Stakeholder Relations and Governance, including scheduling and preparing agendas.
• Support data entry and maintenance of stakeholder and contact records.
• Support reporting on stakeholder engagements, tracking outcomes and follow-up items.
• Perform other duties as assigned, appropriate to the scope of the internship.

What We’re Looking For:

• Currently completing, or a recent graduate of, a Master’s degree, ideally in Life Sciences, AI, or Medicine (or a related discipline).
• Highly analytical, with strong attention to detail.
• Comfortable working with Microsoft software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and AI support tools such as Claude, Perplexity, or Microsoft Copilot.
• Agile and adaptable, with a speak-up mindset and willingness to raise ideas or concerns.
• Cross-functional mindset, with the ability to work across diverse teams and stakeholder groups.
• A basic understanding of AI is required; familiarity with genomic datasets is an asset.
• Strong organizational skills and clear written and verbal communication.
• Comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively in a small-team environment.
