Ontario Genomics appoints three new board members

The Chair of the Ontario Genomics Board of Directors, Brian Underdown, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Deb Stark, Dr. Benjamin Rovinski and Dr. Alan Winter to its Board.

Dr. Stark is the former Deputy Minister of the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) and brings a wealth of experience in the agriculture and agri-food policy space; Dr. Rovinski is Managing Director at Lumira Capita, with over 28 years of investment, operational, managerial and research experience in the healthcare sector; and Dr. Winter is the former CEO of Genome BC, who has wide experience at senior leadership levels in the technology sector and in government.

“I am thrilled with the experience and skills our new board members bring to Ontario Genomics in areas crucial to our business including research, translation and commercialization, and policy. I look forward to working closely with the Board to develop and execute on a vision that will position genomics as a solution to some of our most pressing problems across the bioeconomy,” said Dr. Bettina Hamelin, President and CEO of Ontario Genomics.

Ontario Genomics thanks retiring Board members Bonnie Schmidt and Paul Lucas for their service and contributions to Ontario Genomics and the province’s genomics ecosystem.
