Regional Relief and Recovery Fund (FedDev Ontario)
RRRF provides financial contributions (interest-free loans) to help support fixed operating costs of SMEs, where business revenues have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Fund, valued at more than $962 million nationally, is delivered by Canada’s six regional development agencies.
CANSII Rapid Response Program (Canadian Statistical Sciences Institute)
CANSII is providing critical support to statisticians who are addressing rapidly emerging problems related to COVID-19. They will fund projects for a length of 2-4 months with $5000 – $7000 based on the impact of the research.
CDL Recovery (Creative Destruction Lab)
This program will apply CDL’s objectives-based mentorship model to rapidly transform scientific innovations into products and services that address the public health and economic recovery challenges that are emerging in the current crisis. It is a global program, delivered virtually, drawing on CDL’s global network of mentors, scientists, economists and investors as well as on public and private sector partners.
Ontario COVID-19 Rapid Research Fund (Ontario Government)
The Ontario government is investing $20 million to advance medical research and develop tools and resources to combat COVID-19 and other infectious diseases through this fund.
This plan will deploy resources to domestic manufacturers and businesses to rapidly scale up production or re-tool their manufacturing lines to develop made in Canada products to help in the fight against COVID-19.
Strategic Innovation Fund (ISED)
This program aims to deliver direct support to Canadian companies for large-scale projects in these unprecedented times. The main objective is to spur innovation for a better Canada.
This program seeks rapid solutions for detection and diagnosis, therapeutics and vaccine development, and Digital health, from small and medium-sized businesses that need financial support from the NRC IRAP to refine and sell their product or solution to meet a COVID-19 related need.
COVID-19 Response Program (NGen)
NGen will invest $50 million in Supercluster funding to support companies as they rapidly respond to the COVID-19 pandemic by building a Canadian supply of essential equipment, products, and therapeutics.
FedDev Ontario Response (FedDev)
FedDev Ontario is closely monitoring the COVID-19 global challenge and its impact on businesses and workers to provide financial relief for businesses affected by COVID related layoffs, etc.
Two financing programs are available through the BCAP: The Canada Emergency Business Account (up to $40,000) and SME Loan and Guarantee program (up to $6.25 million). Both initiatives will be administered by private-sector financial institutions.
COVID-19 Response Program (Health Canada)
The Government of Canada is working with international regulators to help fast-track clinical trials and applications for vaccines, treatments and diagnostic tests.
COVID-19 Program (Digital Supercluster)
Through this program, the Supercluster will invest up to $60 million to improving the health and safety of Canadians and Canada’s ability to address issues created by the COVID-19 outbreak, as well as building expertise and capacity to address and anticipate issues that may arise in future health crises.
NSERC Alliance COVID-19 Grants (NSERC)
NSERC is providing up to $15 million in total support to stimulate collaborations between academic researchers and the public and not-for-profit sectors, and industry to address pandemic-related research and technical challenges. Support for up to $50,000 for one-year projects is being made available immediately.

Genome BC is launching a COVID-19 Rapid Response Funding Initiative to fund promising research and innovation projects that have the realistic potential to have a quick and material impact on evolving COVID-19 related challenges. The allowable project budget range is up to $250,000.
