2012 Large Scale Applied Research Project Competition

Genome Canada has launched a Request for Applications (RFA) on January 24, 2012, and is seeking proposals for large-scale research projects which focus on the application of genomics in the area of Genomics and Personalized Health. The competition will be a partnership with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) to build on the complementary mandates of Genome Canada and CIHR and provide an opportunity to maximize the effectiveness of the research communities, infrastructure and resources supported by both organizations.

SPARK Program - Technology Development 2012

With the SPARK program, the Ontario Genomics Institute (OGI) seeks to provide catalytic funding for high-impact, high-risk and/or early-stage technology development in the Genomic Sciences. The SPARK grants are intended for innovative projects which have previously not been funded and/or where funding would be difficult to obtain due to the early-stage nature of the proposed research.  Outcomes of such projects should enable follow-on investment or funding for further research or development.

2010 Competition for Science and Technology Innovation Centre Operations Support

In May 2010, Genome Canada requested applications for operations support for Science and Technology Innovation Centres (S&T ICs) in genomics technologies.  This was an open competition aimed to support competitive current and new S&T ICs for a period of two years (April 1, 2011 to March 31, 2013).

One project was funded through OGI with a total investment of $5.1 million and launched in April 2011.

2010 Genome Canada Large Scale Applied Research Project (LSARP) Competition

On May 17, 2010, Genome Canada launched the Large Scale Applied Research Project (LSARP) competition. This competition was for applied genomics projects that had a high potential for benefits to Canada, to be realized or initiated before the end of the project. The funding for this competition was split between a focused theme on forestry and the environment and a second, multi-sector component with projects targeted to other strategic sectors (e.g. agriculture, fisheries and human health).
