In collaboration with Dr. Michael Archer (University of Toronto), OGI brought together for a workshop more than 50 experts from academe, biotech, government, and industry to discuss nutrigenomics, related activities in Ontario, and opportunities to develop strategic initiatives in this new field.
The workshop’s specific objectives were:
- to identify strengths and weaknesses of, and resources for, research in nutrigenomics in Ontario;
- to develop ideas for possible collaborative research projects in nutrigenomics;
- to assess the likelihood of attracting public, industrial, or international funding; and
- to provide information to a subsequent Genome Canada workshop on nutrigenomics, leading to a position paper to propose federal funding in this area.
