OGI is developing a network of Ontario-based social science or humanities (SSH) researchers working on issues stemming from or associated with genomics and related technologies (including bioinformatics, proteomics, stem cell research, and technology development). As part of the Genome Canada family of regional genome centres, we often group these research areas as GE³LS research.
The Ontario GE³LS Network brings together scholars from SSH disciplines (e.g., anthropology, economics, ethics, humanities, law, philosophy, policy, sociology) who share research interests, and provides them opportunities to collaborate on research and participate in outreach.
The Ontario GE³LS Network will enable engagement in Genome Canada and/or OGI initiatives:
- research competitions in genomics and GE³LS (including stand-alone and integrated GE³LS research);
- outreach activities (e.g., participation as speakers or panellists in events that OGI hosts or supports, and contribution of content for OGI website or newsletters); and
- media and/or community-based inquiries.

Similar initiatives in other regions in Canada will also enable pan-national and international connectivity and collaboration among science, social science, and humanities researchers working in these areas.
