OGI Genomics Publication Fund (GPF)

OGI Genomics Publication Fund (GPF)

OGI ran this funding program throughout 2010 to promote free and unrestricted access to scholarly research in Genomics.  Through this program, OGI supported genomics, proteomics, other omics and bioinformatics (collectively referred to as genomics) researchers in Ontario who wished to make their research publications immediately open access. This program helped increase the profile, visibility, and citations of genomics research conducted in Ontario and published in top international journals.

During the program OGI supported ten publications, with up to a maximum of $3,000 per publication. Funds were provided to either (i) reimburse fees charged by publishers to make manuscripts open access from the earliest date of publication or (ii) defray publication costs for manuscripts published in open access journals.

Supported publications included:

  • Fucile G, Di Biase D, Nahal H, La G, Khodabandeh S, Chen Y, Easley K, Christendat D, Kelley L, Provart NJ. (2011). ePlant and the 3D Data Display Initiative: Integrative Systems Biology on the World Wide Web. PloS One 6(1):e15237. [PubMed] [PDF]
