With the Genomics Project Development (GPD) Workshop program the Ontario Genomics Institute (OGI) seeks to support unique opportunities to strengthen international connections and increase investment in the Ontario genomics research community. Under the GPD program, OGI will provide up to $10,000 in funding for Workshops structured to stimulate international collaborations leading to large-scale international funding or in-kind contributions in the general fields of genomics, proteomics, and associated technologies (henceforth referred to as 'genomics research'). Funded Workshops must be held in Ontario and should focus on a unique, well-defined research area relevant to large-scale genomics research. OGI intends to be the major sponsor of these Workshops; however, if the budget warrants it, other major sponsors can be included. Up to four Workshops will be funded per year depending on the quality and quantity of applications.
The GPD Workshop program is open to all Ontario-based investigators active in genomics research seeking to build their capacity to compete provincially, nationally, and internationally for large-scale funding. However, it should be noted that the GPD program is not intended as funding for general scientific conferences or training workshops.
OGI will accept proposals on or before the designated due date for each quarter (i.e., January 23, April 16, July 16, and October 15). OGI will notify applicants of the funding decision within a month of the relevant deadline.
