Genoma EspaƱa

On 21 January 2004, Genome Canada announced $17 million in funding for three large-scale genomics research projects; it provided half of the funding, and Genoma EspaƱa in Spain, the other half.  The Framework Agreement to Promote Scientific and Industrial Cooperation, which the two countries signed in May 2002, made the competition possible.

One of the three projects under the Genoma EspaƱa competition was funded through OGI, with a total project value of $5.2 million (including $2.6 million in funding from Genome Canada).
