GE³LS Support Program

OGI’s GE³LS Support Program provides GE³LS-related support for researchers receiving funds through OGI, as well as for other members of Ontario’s genomics and GE³LS research communities.  It seeks to:

  • increase awareness and understanding among genomics researchers about GE³LS and the role(s) of GE³LS research in genomics research;
  • increase awareness and understanding among GE³LS researchers about developments in genomics research and opportunities for collaboration with Ontario-based genomics and  GE³LS researchers;
  • develop and implement effective, proactive GE³LS research initiatives, including stand-alone and integrated efforts;
  • respond as necessary to emerging  project-related GE³LS issues (i.e., those that researchers did not anticipate);  and
  • promote regional and national capacity building in GE³LS  so as to continually augment the  robust GE³LS community.

While the GE³LS Support Program continues to evolve, it always aims to ensure that:

  • issues that arise in OGI-funded research projects or platforms will have a forum for their discussion and analysis, which can develop solutions efficiently and consistently;
  • where possible, encourage and facilitate synergies with GE³LS activities elsewhere in  Canada; and
  • support GE³LS initiatives that will aid long-term development of genomics research in Ontario and across Canada.

The OGI GE³LS Support Program also works to develop and implement GE³LS-related communications and outreach (e.g., public discussion forums, position papers, seminars, and symposia) with and to other stakeholder groups such as the education and scientific communities, government, health care, industry, and the public.
