On 19 July 2001, Genome Canada launched Competition II to fund large-scale projects in genomics research and related science and technology platforms. Results were announced in April 2002, with $155.5 million going to 34 projects with applications in agriculture, bioinformatics, the environment, forestry, GE3LS, health, and technology development. Thirteen of these received funding through OGI and were worth $121.1 million (including $59 million in funding from Genome Canada).
Ontario Projects funded through Competition II:
Genetic Determinants of Human Health and Disease
Bridging the Emerging Genomics Divide
Functional Genomics of Type 1 Diabetes
Genomics of the Spruce Budworm and Its Viral Parasites
Mapping and Isolation of Genes Influencing Severity of Disease in Cystic Fibrosis
The Stem Cell Genomics Project
Genomic Analyses of Soil Microorganisms
Biomolecular Interaction Network Database (BIND)
Development and Applications of Functional Genomics Technologies
