Cancer Stem Cell Consortium – California Institute for Regenerative Medicine Partnership Program
On October 28th, 2009 the Cancer Stem Cell Consortium (CSCC) announced the approval of two multi-disciplinary research projects co-led by Ontarian and Californian scientists. These projects are targeting cancer stem cells to develop therapies that will improve cancer treatment. Two members of the CSCC, Genome Canada and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, together committed $40 million to fund the Canadian portion of these research projects, with the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) providing similar funding for the Californian scientists.
