OGI's Business Development team catalyzes access to and the impact of the outcomes of genomics research, working with scientists and their host institutions to find paths to the marketplace for their discoveries and the products to which they lead.
The team has developed Ontario's Genomics Sector Innovation Network (www.g-sin.com), which allows researchers and others in Ontario's life sciences sector to profile their genomics research projects and resources.
Business Development works with the province's life-sciences sector to bridge the gap between basic research and commercialization through activities and events. Similarly, we organize or sponsor events leading to understanding and uptake of leading-edge genomics technologies that could render genomics research in Ontario more competitive. This section of our website leads to profiles of past and upcoming events and to descriptions of the team's approach.
Business Development also works closely with Ontario's genomics technology service platforms and with vendors of genomics instruments, reagents, and tools to increase Ontario scientists' access to these technologies. Information about these platforms and the team's technology-seeding program also appears in this section.
Finally, we have developed the Pre-commercialization Business Development Fund (PBDF), which invests in opportunities to catalyze the movement of genomics outcomes and technology into the marketplace.
